Information about Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE University)

Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) is a public research university in Hungary, headquartered in Budapest, and established in 1635. It is one of the largest and most prestigious public higher education institutions in Hungary. The university is named after one of its professors, the world-renowned physicist Loránd Eötvös.

ELTE is the most popular university in Hungary among Vietnamese international students. Currently, approximately 30,000 students are enrolled across eight faculties and two independent institutes, including about 3,000 international students from over 100 countries.

Many prominent scientists have studied and worked at ELTE, including:

  • Lénárd Fülöp – Nobel Prize in Physics (1905)
  • Albert Szent-Györgyi – Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for discovering Vitamin C (1937)
